Highlights
London, England is home to four World Heritage Sites, including 1) The Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's Church; 2) the Tower of London; 3) the historic settlement of Greenwich; and 4) the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. London is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, and is global city for it’s influence in education, politics, entertainment, fashion, media and the arts.
St Paul's Cathedral, an Anglican cathedral, is the seat of the Bishop of London and is one of London’s most visited spots. The present building dates from the 17th century and is referred to as London's fifth St Paul's Cathedral, although the count is higher if every major medieval reconstruction counts as a new cathedral. The cathedral sits on the edge of the city’s oldest region, the City, which originated as a Roman trading post along the River Thames.
